  1. Hello Metal Gladiators,

    As announced on May 2nd, the Leaderboard page was temporarily disabled due to a communication issue with our data processing server.

    After the analysis made by our technical team, we’ve discovered that a total of 353 matches weren’t accounted for the Europe region. By adding these matches’ data, a few players had its current positions on the season updated. However, the players in the first positions did not change.

    We already updated the data on the Leaderboard results, and the page is available again.

    Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

    The Leaderboard results are currently unavailable due to a communication issue between a game server and our data processing server, which may have caused some results to be incorrect - we're still investigating if this happened. Reinforcing our transparency and commitment with the community, we're reprocessing several days worth of data to ensure that the results are correct for all players. We expect to have this issue solved no later than next Tuesday, May 7th.

  3. Heavy Metal Machines received the competitive feature. It will allow you all to participate in this freakin’ amazing tournament -- every season!

    If you haven’t heard yet
    The Metal League‘s an in-game event that creates a tournament based on the teams’ score ranking, with a prize pool of €5.000,00 (five thousand euros) besides items in the game. Hurry and team-up, the first round of the qualifiers start this Saturday (March 9) 2 pm GMT 0.

    Well, and how will this work?
    This system will work side by side with the Teams feature that’s already in the game. Only subscribed teams will be able to take part. Just in case, if don’t have a squad yet, invite your friends to play or get in our Discord and create yours.

    The tournaments in this new feature will be disputed in two phases: qualifiers and playoffs. To get in the playoffs’ stage, the teams will need to score during the qualifiers.

    With this feature, the game will get a new exclusive queue that will be available only on Saturdays at specific hours. In other words, get a space on your schedule to play on Saturdays, okay?

    The Metal League will follow the Metal Pass’ seasons, and the matches will be disputed on specific regions. The first season will roll out only in Europe, and on May the tournaments will also take place on the United States and Brazil servers. But relax, even in specific regions, everyone is INVITED to take part.

    And how will the Qualifiers Phase work?
    This phase will happen on Saturdays, more specifically, this Saturday 9th, from 14h to 20h GMT 0. In this first season, there will only be 6 qualifiers steps, and the 8 teams that achieve the highest score will automatically be in the Playoffs Phase of the tournament.

    And what about the Playoffs Phase, what the heck is that?
    This is the final phase of the Metal League, where the 8 best teams from the classifiers will fight for the prize money. Guess what? ESL Play will join us in this first edition!
    If you’ve seen the European and South American Championships from 2017, the format will be similar to them. There won’t be any queues, and the teams from the brackets will fight in custom matches. Here, the winners will be decided in best of three matches, with single eliminations.

    But and the prize?
    The total prize is €5.000,00, shared between the 4 best teams from the brackets, like this:

    • 1st place – €2.000,00
    • 2nd place – €1.500,00
    • 3rd place – €1.000,00
    • 4th place – €500,00

    Just a reminder, the prize value is split between team members. Ok? 

    So, if you don’t have a team yet, get together with your friends, invite everyone and create groups to play. Get to our Discord channel. I guarantee that with this new feature there’ll be a lot of players looking for teams too.

  4. Heavy Metal Machines has one more event going on! This time, to celebrate the Chinese New Year, this will be the year of the pig, we'll distribute themed Sprays to everyone who completes this easy event.

    In the event "The Year of the Pig", we'll reward everyone who achieves 15 victories on casual matches in HMM! Easy peasy! To achieve it, of course, will be easier if you are on a team. Wanna find your team to take part in this and in other events? Just follow this link and reach people in our Discord:

     

    The event starts on 06/02/2019 and goes on until 19/02/2019. The Sprays will be delivered only on February 20th, ok?

     

    Now, let's check the basic rules:

    • Only matches on Casual mode will count. The custom match won't count this time.
    • The victory needs to happen, in other words, you need to play 'till the end of the match and win it.
    • It doesn't matter if you're in a group or not, only the victory matters.
    • Only matches inside this period will count.
    • To compute the victory, the player cannot be AFK, and if this happens, the match won't count! ?

    Over the past months, several posts about our Lore have been posted on the blog. Some were about the world and how the apocalypse happened,  and some others about the pilots that we all love. 

    There's also the story about the factions of Metal City and the Arenas. I think it's a good idea to link all these posts here, so you can read and get deeper into the game story -- and there's so much more to come with the upcoming seasons. We can't wait to see all of them published! Here's the list of everything we've released so far:

    Definitely, Death. That's something we have in mind, and I'm looking forward to having it in the game. It's already mapped on our development backlog, but it doesn't have a launch date at this point.

  7. The year began, and along with it, the Heavy Metal Machines events season! In HMM 2019 KICK-OFF, whoever follows the rules and completes 20 matches inside the event’s period will earn an exclusive themed new year’s portrait.

    The event begins at 00:00 UTC on 15/01 and ends at 23:59 UTC on 28/01. So, there’s enough time to complete 20 matches, especially because the average time of a match is 7 minutes. Ok?

    So, let’s jump to the most important: have lunch! No, I’m kidding, let’s cover the rules first:

    • The matches are to be played exclusively in the casual mode. Custom matches won’t count in this event.
    • It doesn’t matter the final score. Win it or lose it, it counts.
    • Also, we don’t mind if you’re in a group or not.
    • We’ll only count matches inside the period of the event.
    • We got our eyes on AFK players, alright? If you are flagged as AFK at any moment, the match won’t count.

    As soon as you sum 20 matches, sit tight (and keep playing to have fun, of course). On 29/01 we’ll deliver the event’s rewards for those who accomplished it!

    We've fixed a few things, including the sign up issue you mentioned. We're working on some other improvements, which includes the member hovercards and some other areas.

    We believe that an engaged community, which welcomes its players, can make all the difference in a game.

    As Hoplon, we encourage friendship, fellowship, and interactions between players. For this reason, we created groups on Facebook and channels on Discord to improve this communication inside our community.  In this interaction, we believe that respect is essential among players as well as with the staff.

    On this document, we gathered a lot of orientations which we called Rules of Conduct. In general, the Rules of Conduct is a behavior guide to protect everybody involved (community and staff).

    Musisz uzyskać dostęp do tego formularza i wpisać swoje sugestie — dla jednej postaci lub wszystkich, jeśli chcesz!

    We've made a live stream recently, the Community Afternoon, with Panda and Pitcher talking about the Combat Test news, and also replying to questions and commenting the suggestions coming from the community. We summarize in this topic the main points covered, and also the link to the live stream. It's mostly in Portuguese due to the majority of the audience on this occasion were Brazilian players, but we will always reply any comments and questions from English and other languages the best we can, so feel free to comment and ask anything here.

    Topics discussed during the Livestream:
     

    Metal Herald's balancing

    • We are aware that the character is too strong in the hands of experienced players, and we are studying the adjustments

    E-sports scene and new competitive content

    • After all the hard work being put on the Combat Test, we'll come back with the official championships, such as the European and South American Championships
    • Still in March two other characters will return to the game (already adjusted)
    • Other than that, content for veteran players are also in our development plans, such as Ranked Matches

    Character and gameplay changes

    • We are making changes to the characters so that they become more intuitive, and not necessarily easier

    Effects regarding Killer J.'s abilities

    • Abilities' effects are being analyzed for improvements

    Defense mechanics in the Arena

    • We are working on improvements for the goal's defense, such as the recent adjustment made in the Temple of Sacrifice

    New content development

    • After the Combat Test adjustments, we'll work on content for both veterans and new players

    Music tracks during the match

    • Was removed due to improvements research, and our goal is to bring them back
    • Improvements to the Overtime track, to provide a more frenetic feeling

    Bots

    • The four characters released in the last week's patch aren't available as bots yet, and they'll be added as soon as some improvements in the AI are completed

    Return to the skin shop

    • Until the end of March, the bronze skins will make their return to the game, and during April all skins will be available again
    • All players that purchased any content from the skin shop, or Founder's Pack, will have everything back as soon as they come back to the game

    Character abilities in a single direction

    • The upcoming characters being worked on will include abilities that use other directions, other than just forward

    About the controller support removal

    • The controller was being used by a small percentage of our community, and because its experience wasn't the best possible, we decided to remove this functionality so that we can dedicate time for it after the Combat Test content is done. 

    Overtime

    • We are looking into ways to improve the defense when the Overtime is active, which can also include exclusive droppers just for this feature

    Changes in the bomb's weight

    • The change made had the goal of making it more intuitive for the players, but we are open to suggestions and will continue to study possible changes

    Bomb getting stuck in the Arena

    • We are working so that this issue can be resolved by the next update, on 20/03

    Community Suggestions

    • A tutorial to teach players how to use upgrades for each character (in case it comes back), and also for other features that have been added to the game
    • Training Mode for the characters
    • Improve the precision regarding the bomb's weight
    • Upon releasing the bomb, the speed shall be set according to the state of the car (stopped, for example)

    Great suggestion, and very cool reference for the car visual haha!

    I'll forward your suggestion and make sure to reach the right people. As for now I can say that our development team is 100% focused on finishing the combat test updates, but we will definitely start working on new contents right after that. These suggestions are always welcome to inspire our designers and artists to create the best characters! Thank you!
